222 in an emergency

Pilbara Iron’s new internal emergency number is in operation. Employees  only have to dial 222 to raise the alarm on any site.

“The 222 emergency number is intended to make it much  easier for employees to get assistance when they need it
the most. It is also an important step towards  standardising emergency systems across the  business,” said Pilbara Iron emergency  management advisor Eddie Coyle.

Before 222, each site had its own unique internal  telephone number making it especially difficult  for contractors, who move between sites  regularly, to remember each one. The new  standard internal number means you only  need to memorise one number to be directed to Pilbara Iron’s emergency management facility.

Remember, the 222 number is for internal calls only so if  you are in an emergency off site. or need to call from a  mobile phone, you must still dial the existing  external numbers for each site. Remember to store each  number that you are likely to use in your mobile phone book.

For more information on the new 222 number, contact the emergency management advisor on your site.
