Specs for charity

If you wear prescription spectacles and have a pile of old pairs in need of a new owner, then look no further. Janette Dekuyer from the West Angelas production department is collecting old specs for Foresight.

Foresight recycles old specs in any condition and donates them to third  world countries, helping people who would otherwise not be able to  afford a pair.

“I used to wear specs and it’s amazing how you take your sight for  granted. This is a great way to help people regain their sight and at the  same time promote sustainable practices by recycling a common item  used everyday but often discarded without much thought,” Janette said.

The collection has been underway at West Angelas over the past three  months and Janette has collected a pile of old specs. If you would like to  donate your old glasses or would like to start a collection on your site,  contact Janette at janette.dekuyer@riotinto.com.
